When it may be considered
- Persistent lateral epicondylalgia.
- Other selected tendinopathies.
- Partial ligament injuries in specific sporting contexts.
Your recovery, step by step
A medical assessment helps establish how PRP may benefit you and integrate it into a treatment and rehabilitation plan tailored to your needs. The aim is to improve your symptoms and your ability to take part in the activities that matter to you, while monitoring your progress.
Epicondylalgia needs a diagnosis
Pain on the outside of the elbow can limit grip and repetitive tasks. Its relationship to loading is reviewed and other causes are ruled out before deciding on an injection.
The comparison used changes the interpretation
Comparing PRP with a corticosteroid is not the same as comparing it with placebo. A trial involving 119 patients found no clinically important differences in pain or function compared with saline. Improvement should therefore not be presented as certain or universal.
Which alternatives are reviewed
Assessment includes work and sports loads, exercises performed and previous treatments. If PRP is considered, the goal and follow-up criteria should be defined, with an explanation of the uncertainty.
