When it may be considered
- Reasonable confirmation that the pain originates in the facet joints.
- X-ray guidance and sterile technique.
- Discussion of alternatives, uncertainty, risks and follow-up.
Your recovery, step by step
A medical assessment helps establish how PRP may benefit you and integrate it into a treatment and rehabilitation plan tailored to your needs. The aim is to improve your symptoms and your ability to take part in the activities that matter to you, while monitoring your progress.
Identifying the source of low back pain
Facet joint pain, disc-related pain, nerve compression and instability are not equivalent. An isolated image does not establish which structure is causing the pain or which intervention is appropriate.
Clinical evidence remains uncertain
A trial involving 76 patients with facet joint syndrome did not demonstrate superiority of PRP over corticosteroids for pain or a clinically relevant improvement in function at six months. It should not be presented as an option with guaranteed effectiveness or as regeneration of the entire spine.
When further assessment is needed
The decision requires a review of symptoms, examination findings, available investigations and previous treatments. When specialist spinal assessment is appropriate, this can be coordinated with MÍNIMUS.
